FAQs

CADS RC/RebarCAD V9.01 includes a combine bars icon on with the schedule (bar list). Ensure you first click on the required drawing sheet from the navigation panel to the left of the schedule data. Selecting the combine bars icon will then combine all bars in the selected drawing sheet.

          Combine Bars

You can revise the DrawingSheet.CFG file in the \CADS-RC\params folder to remove any attribute that conflict with other non-title block related blocks.

CADS-RC.ini files will be created and reference from within the "Documents and Settings" folder under V9. This is a change from V8 which used the \CADS-RC\params folder

e.g.  C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CADS\AutoCAD 2008\CADS RC 9.01\CADS-RC\Params

Please ensure that you have run RC/RebarCAD at least once before modifying/creating a new shortcut.

  • Copy the RC/RebarCAD desktop icon
  • Right-click on the new icon and pick 'Properties'

                              Select Shortcut Properties

  • Replace the text in the 'Target' field with the data from the standard AutoCAD desktop icon.

e.g. "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2008\acad.exe"

                         Shortcut Properties

  • Set the text in the 'Start In' field to point at the RC V9.01/RebarCAD V9.01 installation folder

e.g. "C:\Program Files\CADS\AutoCAD 2008\RebarCAD 9.01"

e.g. "C:\Program Files\CADS\AutoCAD 2008\CADS RC 9.01"

  • You can now add any additional parameters to the TARGET field as with V8.

e.g.  /t "C:\Program Files\CADS\Support\CADSISO.dwt" (Template File)

e.g.  /p "CADS2005" (AutoCAD Profile)

We would recommend Windows XP 64 rather than Vista.

AutoCAD and Advance Steel can be installed on a 64 bit system (64 bit hardware and 64 bit Windows) but will currently only run at 32 bits.

AutoCAD 2008 and Advance Steel 8.1 (due out later this year) will also come in 64 bit versions.

Advance Steel 8.1, due out later this year, will support AutoCAD 2008.

Windows Vista will be supported in Advance Steel 8.1, which is due for release later this year.

Please also note that only AutoCAD 2008 currently supports Windows Vista.

While Vista will be supported, we do not recommend using it at this time due to various issues reported by Vista users in general.

XP Pro is a better platform if you have the option.
