Bison Confirm 5 Year Deal

Bison Contract Signing

Bison, the UK´s largest precast concrete manufacturer, has signed a new contract with CADS to provide detailing software and services in support of its growing business.  CADS has worked with Bison for over three years now, providing a number of integrated design and detailing products and services, whilst establishing a strong commercial relationship.

This new contract for detailing services confirms Bison´s appreciation of the software supplied and work already undertaken by CADS.  Bison continues to build on its market leading position, as illustrated by the recent opening of a £30m concrete flooring plant at Swadlincote, Derbyshire.  This 500m long plant is double the size of existing plants of this kind and sets new standards of quality and accuracy in hollow core flooring manufacture.  The intention is to make Bison the most efficient concrete flooring manufacturer in the UK.

CADS Director, Ian Chambers (centre) is pictured with Bison Managing Director Alan Clucas (left).  They were also joined by Bison Technical Director Peter Kelly, who has been instrumental in establishing the strong relationship between the two companies. The picture in the background is of the new concrete flooring plant.

The mainstay of the CADS relationship with Bison has been the market leading CADS RC detailing software.  A special CADS RC macro was developed three years ago for stairflight detailing and then branded as Bison Stairflight Detailer.  This macro links to Bison´s own design programs, detailing stair plans and elevations automatically, before creating material schedules in printed and electronic formats.  CADS has also developed the Bison Floor Designer, an attractive and easy to use product supplied to Bison´s customers.  Bison has also purchased copies of other CADS software in the form of the SMART Engineer Calc Pad application, the high end, FE analysis application SMART Modeller and the combined analysis and design application SMART Designer.

Bison also visited CADS Indian offices in Chennai two years ago and were impressed by the professional set-up and approach of the software development and detailing services teams located there.  A decision was made to commission CADS detailing services, and following training in the UK, a supervisory team was established in Bison´s Burton-Upon-Trent offices.  They now co-ordinate a team of over forty detailers, with a capacity of more than 60,000 square metres of hollowcore flooring and in excess 400 cubic metres of stairs per month.  Using the CADS RC software and macros, these detailers are dedicated to Bison work and form part of the overall two hundred strong detailing team in that office.

Bison Managing Director Alan Clucas commented:

´CADS has always provided us with excellent products coupled with the highest level of support and service.  With this agreement we look forward to continuing to benefit from their experience, expertise and dedication.´

CADS Director Ian Chambers added:

´This agreement is testimony to CADS breadth of offering across both software and services.  Firstly, in the CADS RC software, Bison has purchased the market leading reinforced concrete detailing application.  They have then worked with our expert development teams to create bespoke applications for their needs, and maximise productivity without sacrificing quality.  Finally, they have tapped into our focused and professional detailing resources, to help them achieve their demanding performance targets.´
