Yas Island is a 25 million m2, $200m leisure and entertainment development and home to Abu Dhabi's new Formula 1 racetrack and Interbeton was awarded the contract to construct the Crowne Plaza hotel and Staybridge serviced apartments in January 2008.
The 4 star Crowne Plaza boasts 400 hotel rooms along with hotel banqueting and amenities, and 7,500m2 of landscaped gardens. The 3 star 6 storey Staybridge Hotel comprises 196 guest rooms, undercroft parking facilities, hotel amenities and swimming pool.
The 14-storey reinforced concrete 4 star 400 rooms Crowne Plaza hotel structure, which consumed 45,000 m³ of concrete and nearly 9,000 tons of reinforcement steel, had to be constructed in less than 10 months to ensure completion for when Yas Island hosts the inaugural Etihad Airways Formula One Grand Prix on 1st November 2009! At the topping out ceremony on 28th November 2008 the efforts of the Interbeton team were saluted having achieved such a 'fast track' construction without accident!
