There is a new look to CADS software in 2008. New CD labelling, packaging, desktop icons, interfaces and launchers complement a wide range of upgrades, fixes and enhancements. Three separate disks for Analysis & Design, Detailing and Geotechnical have been created, so you can share the relevant CADS software more effectively between users and departments.

- Fully Microsoft Windows Vista compatible
- Analysis and steelwork products now include latest Corus, Celsius Jumbo and Hybox sections
- Improved export to Word functionality
A3D MAX
- Tension-only member analysis has been improved to better model the practical behaviour of tension-only cross bracing systems
- Tension-only members, compression-only members and lift-off supports are now included in elastic critical load factor analysis
- The wording of instability and mechanism reports has been clarified
- The treatment of pinned-pinned members for P Delta analysis has been improved
SMART Engineer
- 27 new templates for EC2 checking and design
SMART Portal 2D and 3D
- Treatment of purlins, rails and other lateral restraints has been completely redesigned
SMART Portal 3D
- Improved export of Portal design to CADS Advance Steel for even faster detailing
- Selection of cold-formed eaves beams added
- Design and selection of purlins and sheeting rails refined.
