Microsoft Windows Vista

As a Microsoft Certified Partner, CADS has tested its software with the latest Windows Vista operating system.  Autodesk are currently working hard to include support for Windows Vista in the next release of AutoCAD.  CADS AutoCAD compatible products will follow shortly after this release.  The notes below are only relevant to non AutoCAD based products:

Stand-alone Licences

For Stand-alone Licences (excluding CADS RC, RebarCAD, CADS SW and Advance Steel)

  1. Install CADS software
  2. Cancel out of automatic licencing wizard
  3. Set apps to run as admin (all users)
  4. Run licence wizard to request licences.
  5. Licence as normal

Promote applications to run with Administrative rights

Some applications need to save settings into folders which are now protected by Windows Vista. This can cause program instability. This can be avoided by allowing the application to run with administrative rights on the PC. The user must have administrative rights for this to work correctly.  Create a shortcut to the application, if you haven't already got one.

1. Right click on the shortcut and select "Properties"

Vista 1

2. Click the button marked "Show settings for all users"

Vista 2

3. Tick the box marked  "Run this program as an administrator" and click OK

Vista 3
