The project is a part of the "North Galaxy" complex near the railway station "Brussels- North". This project concerns the entrance hall. The building has an elliptic roof surface and it is surrounded by a glass frontage. In the original design, the frontage of the building was anchored by trusses, but at a later stage was decided to attach the glass frontage to steel cables. This implied that the roof surface had to be aggravated in order to face with the extra forces. This was also necessary in order to make the structure more rigid to avoid distortion of the cables as a consequence of the wind load. On the first floor, an additional problem arose as the surface was not resistant against the extra upward pressure. In order to resolve this problem, CSM designed a complete secondary steel cellar structure. This structure released the pre-tension and reinforced also the concrete basis of the building.
