Stepping into an era of modernisation and urbanisation, the Oman government is starting with its administrative headquarters and national assembly, setting the tone for the future. Needless to say, that when it comes to quality, the country's legislative assembly demands the best talent and expertise.
The project calls for the design and construction of Majlis (parliament) building in Muscat, with a development area of 101,000 square metres (sq.m.). The Majlis Oman includes the parliament assembly hall and the upper and lower houses. The Majlis A'Ddawla will accommodate 150 members of the upper house and its administrative wing. The Majlis A'Shura will accommodate 150 members of the lower house and its administrative wing. The scope of work also includes committee rooms, a library, lecture halls and dining facilities.
Carillion Alawi, the main contractor, was keen to demonstrate its high quality and efficient approach to this project. With this as a clear objective they appointed CADS to deliver almost 800 A1 size drawings, detailing about 4000 tonnes of steel. |
