IMPORTANT: Closing your drawing the wrong way can corrupt your bar bending schedule!

 7 Sep 2007

Important information for CADS RC V9.01 users who use AutoCAD 2005/2006 (and AutoCAD 2007/2008 users who save to the AutoCAD 2004 DWG format)

We have found that saving CADS RC drawings in some specific ways can affect the integrity of the data shown within the schedule. This problem only pertains to users who save to the AutoCAD 2004 DWG format. We advise users not to save drawings in the following ways:

  • By selecting the close (x) icon in the top right corner of the AutoCAD and then by responding to the "Save Changes?" message.
  • By selecting the close command from the AutoCAD file menu and then by responding to the "Save Changes?" message.

We advise all users to use the AutoCAD "Save" and "Save As" commands, and then to close AutoCAD if required.

If you commonly use the above methods in order to save your drawings then you may consider manually checking that the schedule tallies with the drawing in your current DWG files. If you identify any discrepancies between the schedule and drawing then consider the following actions:

  1. Save the affected DWG file to the CADS RC v8.4 format using the "Save as V8.4 Drawing" command from within the CADS RC utilities menu
  2. Reopen the resultant drawing within v9, in order to invoke the migration facility
  3. Reassign all bars to the appropriate drawing sheet and member using the CADS RC "Assign bar to drawing sheet" & "Assign bars to members" commands

We apologise for any inconvenience caused. This issue will be resolved in the CADS RC V9.02 Service Pack that will be available for download from the CADS RC Product Support Centre during September, 2007.
